Exploring Computers
This course will cover basic and advanced computer concepts with an emphasis on both the personal computer and enterprise computing. Topics include hardware, application and system software, the Internet and World Wide Web, communications, e-commerce, social issues, database management, systems analysis and design, programming, information systems, career opportunities, certifications in the computer field, and computer trends.

Programming I
Programming I will use Visual Basic.NET to introduce students to basic concepts of programming and Web page design. They will learn object-oriented programming, structured design, modular design, user interface design, logic and syntax rules. The students will create stand alone computer programs.
Prerequisite: Computer Applications, Exploring Computers and Geometry with a final grade of B or higher

Accounting and Personal Finance
The Accounting course is designed to cover three major phases. The first phase is the Elements of Financial Records, which is the basic foundation for proceeding into the other phases. Accounting Systems and Procedures is the subject of phase two, which covers the basic elements of the accounting cycle from the origination of the data to the interpretation of the financial information. Phase three deals with Business Data Processing which is designed to show the student various methods used in processing accounting data. The complete accounting cycle is followed for a service business and a merchandising business. Emphasis is given to the differences among single proprietorships, partnerships, and corporations. In the second semester the students will get the chance to evaluate companies and their financial situations by playing the Stock Market Game. The year will culminate in a personal finance project involving the use of Quicken.
