On Friday, Dec. 4th Darby Mokry, Alicia Jerman, Sophia Burkhardt, and Abbie Chandler traveled to Auburn to participate in the Alabama High School State Swim Meet held at the James E. Martin Aquatics Center. The girls swam the 200 and 400 yard Freestyle Relays on Friday night. The girls went into the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:59.92, seeded 23rd overall. They finished with a time of 1:56.63, which gave them a 20th place finish, beating 13 other teams throughout the state. They swam the 400 yard freestyle relay late Friday night finishing with a time of 4:22.08. This was a 14 second improvement from their regular season time, earning them a place in the top 16 and a chance to swim again on Saturday. The girls finished this relay in 16th place, beating 8 other relays and earning points for CHS! Freshman, Darby Mokry earned a chance to participate in individual events at state meet due to qualifying times she received in the regular season. She swam the 200 yard individual Medley and the 100 yard Breaststroke Friday night, finishing in the top 16 in both events. Darby finished 13th in the 200 IM with at time of 2:21:55, improving her time by more than a second from her swim on Friday night. She swam the 100 yard breaststroke in a time of 1:12.08, finishing 11th overall. We are very proud of these 4 girls and their performance at state meet. Way to go girls! Great Swims! |
