    HudsonAlpha Visit

Catholic High School students in the AP Biology class performed a hands-on experiment under the direction of professional scientists and science educators as part of the “Apple for Teacher” program sponsored by the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology. The experiment, “Enzyme Catalysis: Enzyme Kinetics of Alkaline Phosphatase,” was conducted in the Catholic High School biology lab on September 23 by visiting instructors Dr. Bob Zahorchak, BioTrain Administrator for HudsonAlpha; Dr. Pam Twigg, Assistant Professor at the Laboratory for Structural Biology at the University of Alabama in Huntsville; Kay Swanson, an educator with the Huntsville City Schools, and Amy Eskridge, an undergraduate biology major at the University of Alabama in Huntsville. Brian Finzel, Head of the Catholic High School Science Department, coordinated the visit.
